Spring 2014 Beauty Trends
As a beauty lover, I’m always as interested in the makeup at a fashion show as I am by the clothes.
As a beauty lover, I’m always as interested in the makeup at a fashion show as I am by the clothes. I was able to make it to a few of my favorite New York designers’ runway shows—Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Oscar de la Renta. The beauty trends I’ve picked up on are, nicely, right in line with own low-key M.O. The models at Balenciaga, Calvin Klein, Isbael Marant, Burberry, and Valentino, to name a few, looked like they were virtually makeup free. The hair, from an effortlessly messy bun at Michael Kors to a chic side-part at Lanvin, was just as relaxed. Of course, the no-makeup look still requires a bit of work, and glowing skin is a must. I, for one, always start with a touch of my foundation, AERIN Fresh Skin Compact, to even things out and add a swipe of nude lipstick to add a subtle hint of color and texture. As for the hair, I’m thinking of trying a side part on my next night out. It’s unfussy and classy but just different enough to make my look feel special.
